Esta edición se presenta como otra contribución a la traducción de las Sagradas Escrituras en nuestro lenguaje, y se han usado palabras y frases contemporáneas para facilitar la lectura. El pronombre «ustedes», con sus verbos correspondientes, se usa en lugar de «vosotros». El pronombre formal «usted» se ha usado en aquellas ocasiones en que una persona se dirige a otra superior.

This edition is presented as another contribution to the translation of the Holy Scriptures into the Spanish language, and contemporary words and phrases have been used to facilitate reading. The pronoun “ustedes”, with its corresponding verbs, is used instead of “vosotros”. The formal pronoun “usted” has been used on those occasions when a person addresses a superior.

Sixteen (16) high-resolution maps of Bible lands which are in color at 300dpi resolution for high-quality printing and viewing. The integrated Graphics Viewer of theWord allows zooming, panning, and easy navigation. With these high-quality maps, you can locate places and their relationships one to another very easily. The areas are in a red font, and the cities are in a black font. These maps are not even available on the American Bible Society website, so this is a great resource for the Bible student.
While any Bible student needs this kind of resource, this is especially excellent for Bible class teachers, Sunday School teachers, and pastors as you can copy and paste these images into your own personal Bible presentations. When these high-resolution maps are projected (enlarged on a projection screen), they still look very good. This is not true with images downloaded off of the Internet. High-resolution maps of Bible lands are hard to find.

Die vorliegende Bibelausgabe geht zurück auf die so genannte „Elberfelder Übersetzung“, die erstmals in den Jahren 1855 bis 1871 erschien und mit dem Ziel erstellt wurde, unter Berücksichtigung der damals vorhandenen wissenschaftlichen Ausgaben des hebräischen und griechischen Grundtextes eine möglichst wortgetreue Übersetzung des Grundtextes zu bieten.
Durch Gottes Gnade kann jetzt eine Neubearbeitung dieser Übersetzung erscheinen. Dazu wurden unter anderem die heutigen wissenschaftlichen Grundtext-Ausgaben des Alten und Neuen Testaments herangezogen (K. Elliger und W. Rudolph: Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, Stuttgart, 2. Auflage 1984; Nestle-Aland: Novum Testamentum Graece, Stuttgart, 27. Auflage 1993; The New Testament: The Greek Text Underlying the English Authorised Version of 1611, London o. J.) Hier und da bestand die Möglichkeit, die Genauigkeit der Übersetzung etwas zu verbessern. Auch sprachliche und stilistische Glättungen wurden an vielen Stellen vorgenommen. Dabei war es Wunsch und Ziel der Bearbeiter, dass diese Ausgabe der Heiligen Schrift weiterhin dem Anspruch genügt, möglichst wortgetreu und doch verständlich zu sein.
Wie die ursprünglichen Übersetzer lehnen auch die jetzigen Bearbeiter alle Ansätze der Bibelkritik ab, die die Inspiration und Autorität des Wortes Gottes und seine innere Einheit in Frage stellen. Dem Gesamtzusammenhang der Heiligen Schrift muss daher besonders Rechnung getragen werden, wenn der Handschriftenbefund gelegentlich nicht eindeutig ist. Das bedeutet, dass die Bearbeiter nicht kritiklos dem Text der wissenschaftlichen Grundtext-Ausgaben folgen.

Description
Israel’s first king began with great promise and ended in tragedy. The author traces Saul’s head start into the monarchy and the accelerating spiral into possibly the most lamentable biography in the Bible. Along the way there is much to learn from a king whose story is told in Scripture so that we might learn the ways of a man who fell out with God and fell in with the powers of darkness. And there are surprises along the way, not least in the story of his son who, but for the purposes of God, would surely have made an excellent king.
However, on the blood-spattered walls of Beth Shan, the story does not quite end. There is another member of Saul’s line who shines with bright hope and reflects the character of his godly father in contrast to that of his tragic grandfather.
An accessible book for every reader which, as well as bringing the three characters of Saul, Jonathan and Mephibosheth to life and clarifying difficulties in the text, concludes every chapter with questions for thoughtful discussion suitable for group or personal study.

Die doel was ’n vertaling wat rekening hou met die ontwikkeling in Afrikaans die afgelope jare en met die resultate van wetenskaplike ondersoek; ’n waardige vertaling waardeur Afrikaanssprekendes aangespreek word, buite en binne die kerk, in die erediens en in huislike gebruik, in ons teenwoordige situasie en tyd.
As grondteks vir die Ou Testament is die Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (1977) gebruik. Hierdie uitgawe van die Hebreeuse, en gedeeltelik Aramese, grondteks is gebaseer op die oudste volledig behoue manuskrip, dieCodex Leningradensis(1008 n.C.). Gegewens uit ouer manuskripte is in die teksuitgawe bygewerk.
Vir die Nuwe Testament is gebruik gemaak van die Griekse grondteks soos gepubliseer deur die Wereldbond van Bybelgenootskappe onder die titel: The Greek New Testament , derde uitgawe (1975).
